GET YOUR HEAD in the GAME - DUCHESNE
GET YOUR HEAD in the GAME - DUCHESNE
Thursday, April 9, 2026 (7:45 AM - 10:30 AM) (MDT)
Description

Designed to prepare Utah’s workforce for a safe, compliant and productive paving & maintenance season — including contractors, subcontractors, city and county crews, UDOT personnel, safety managers, civil engineers, inspectors, and industry partners involved in paving and maintenance operations. All organizations involved in roadway, streets, and parking lots are encouraged to participate as we align across agencies and teams for the upcoming season.
Led by the Utah Asphalt Pavement Association (UAPA), and supported by UDOT and UHP, this program is partially funded through a safety grant from the State of Utah.
The course provides a practical foundation before the first ton is placed, focusing on:
- PPE and working safely around asphalt and maintenance equipment
- Work-zone safety in parking lots, side roads, streets, highways, and freeways
- Effective daily kickoff meetings (“Toolbox Talks / Tailgate Talks / Pre-Task Briefings”) with proactive “what-if” planning
- Mental preparedness, fatigue awareness, and stop-work authority
- Emergency response, documentation, notification protocols, and risk management
Pre-Season: Get Your Head in the Game ensures everyone—from owners to field crews—starts the season aligned, prepared, and committed to getting everyone home safely every day.
